SEMINAR
Despite the last minute change of venue, there was a great turnout for the seminar and competition. There were over 30 people on the mat with many out of town participants; two from Chicago, one from Minnesota, six from Kansas, two from southern California, and two from Nevada.

Kashiwaya Sensei presented his usual dynamic seminar. In preparation for the Shinsakai in California and also for the upcoming international competition in August, he said that we should perform taigi to show what we want to tell Tohei Sensei, not just mechanically go through the techniques.

SHINSAKAI
The competition began Saturday evening with the kitei taigi the sentaku taigi. For Saturday, the competition was held at the Hoa Sen Dojo in Emeryville, CA, where the mat area was the same size as the official taigi arena. A few of the kitei and sentaku taigi were performed Sunday morning at the NCKS Dojo along with the group taigi. There were four groups competing, with the formation "Team Ad Hoc" taking place just Saturday evening.
